The Workshop on Agricultural Science & Technology Exchange between China and Central-Eastern European countries opened in Beijing on September 6, 2013.

Sponsored by Department of International Cooperation and organized by Foreign Economic Cooperation Center (FECC) of MOA, the Workshop attracted officials and experts from eight overseas countries including Croatia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova, as well as over 60 delegates from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), China Agriculture University (CAU) and research institutes and enterprises at provincial and municipal levels. At the Workshop, participants of both sides discussed a wide range of agricultural S&T subjects covering fruit, vegetable, biomass energy, irrigation, farm machinery and other hot topics, learned from each other the successful experience of agricultural technology innovation and sustainable rural economical development, and evaluated major achievements gained by China and Central-Eastern European countries, with an aim to integrate resources from diversified channels and advance the rapid progress in this regard.

Over recent years, MOA has made intensified efforts and organized influential activities to build an agricultural S&T communication platform for China and Central-Eastern European countries. The initiation of workshop series, academic symposiums and joint research programs has all facilitated a robust cooperation between research institutes, colleges, enterprises and non-government organizations of the two sides, with remarkable achievements in technology extension and application particularly. As the first agricultural S&T exchange event between China and Central-Eastern European countries under the sponsorship of MOA, the Workshop received active responses and great support of the above countries. It is believed that the Workshop will further strengthen the partnership between research institutes of the two sides, and promote the overall agricultural S&T collaboration to a new height.
